Margaritaville in partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line has opened the much anticipated 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar on the Norwegian Star. The bar along with Jimmy Buffett have collaborated on an experience that includes “boat drinks”, signature cocktails and live performances that will evoke the feeling of the islands.
The combined project for the bar features improvements to the now 14-year old ship that includes retrofits to the long-standing food establishments: an improved Ginza Restaurant, O’Sheenan’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill and The Moderno Churrascaria (a Brazilian-inspired steakhouse) – where a mojito bar will be installed on the same 13th deck.
Though Buffett has multiple bars on dry land, this bar will be the first on the open seas; but there are plans for another 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar installation on the Norwegian Escape in Miami this fall. Margaritaville Holdings LLC and Norwegian Cruise Line show no sign of slowing down their lucrative partnership as both are planning a Margaritaville Resort in Harvest Cay in Belize and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.
Margaritaville’s dedication to the tropical, island experience has proven to be fitting association. Norwegian’s chairman, Kevin Sheehan, stated the original Parrothead is a “perfect fit” for the cruise line. Norwegian has an exclusive licensing deal in the cruise industry with Margaritaville Holdings, LLC which covers all their ports of call, and construction in the Bahamas and Belize.
The Norwegian Escape, the second bar of the sea, is set to depart from Miami in October 2015.
